What's inside a Green Derma shower
A handheld shower head with a replaceable ZMC filter cartridge inside the handle. Here's how it works, what we've tested and what you get in the box.
UAE tap water is treated to be safe, not to be gentle
Most tap water in the UAE comes from desalination. Chlorine is added so it stays safe on its way to your home, and that's a good thing. But it's the same water you stand under every day, often hot, for several minutes.
Many people who move here notice the chlorine smell, hair that feels dry or rough, and white limescale marks in the bathroom. A shower filter is a simple way to treat the water right where you use it.
Water passes through the filter before it reaches you
Water enters the handle
The shower head screws onto your existing hose (standard G1/2 connection). Water flows up through the handle.
Through the ZMC cartridge
Inside the handle, the water passes through a cartridge packed with ZMC filter media, designed to reduce residual chlorine.
Out of the spray face
Filtered water leaves through the spray plate. Swap the cartridge every 4โ8 weeks to keep performance up.
ZMC vs standard NMC filter media
NMC is the filter media found in many shower filters. Our manufacturer tested ZMC and NMC side by side in the lab: the same amount of media, the same tap water, the same conditions. At every point measured, ZMC came out on top.

For every litre that runs through the handle, ZMC holds back 2 to 4 times more chlorine than NMC. That's chlorine staying in the cartridge instead of landing on your hair and skin.

After more than 500 litres of water, ZMC was still removing more chlorine than NMC did when it was brand new.

Every filter works best when fresh. That's why each pack comes with 3 cartridges and we recommend a swap every 4โ8 weeks.
Source: manufacturer lab test report ZL-QC-001 (February 2023): 30 g of each media, tap water with about 0.3 mg/L residual chlorine. Results depend on water quality, flow and usage. Full report available on request.
